If your computer is running slower than molasses and you do not know what to do, do not fret. You do not have to call a repair man or take your computer in to some shop and be without it for weeks on end. There are four easy ways to speed up your computer without having to spend a lot of time or money.
- Defragment – Defragmenting your hard drive does take a little time, but it is well worth the effort. If it takes your computer forever to find your files or open your programs, then this might be a solution for you. Defragmenting reorganizes your computer’s files so that it can access them faster and more efficiently. No matter how many files you have, defragmenting can condense them and make them open faster.
- Clean the desktop – If you are like most computer users then you have a load of icons on your desktop. Most of those icons are never or rarely used. When you have a lot of stuff on your desktop it slows down your computers booting time and makes it harder to open and close programs. Clean up your desktop to speed this back up.
- Antivirus – Some antivirus programs are really great for protecting your computer from infection but not so great in allowing it to run as fast as it should. Some programs take up a lot of memory and make your pagesload very slowly. DO some research and see if you can’t replace your current antivirus with a memory lighter alternative. You would be surprised at how much this helps your computer’s speed.
- CCleaner – This free program by Piriform is the best and easiest way to get your computer really clean. It can take out cookies, clean the browser cache, and even uninstall files. If your internet is running very slow, this is the perfect solution. Best of all, it is free and quick to install. It is also very easy to use. All you have to do is check the boxes marking what you want cleaned and it will go to work. It also comes with a registry cleaner to find any errors after it deletes the information that is making your computer run slowly
It does not take a long time or a lot of effort to get your computer running faster. All you have to do is take a look at what the extra things that you have added are and see if you can’t lighten the load. You might be surprised at how fast your computer runs once you clean out all the extraneous junk that has piled up in it.
